MAQ's anti-vibration boring bar "STMD" tool can damp vibration with an internal mass damper. The mass damper is supported by a patented polymer whose "hardness" can be changed depending on the vibration frequency.
The high polymer changes its "hardness" so that it can exert an appropriate damping effect against vibrations during processing. This self-tuning tool contributes to improved surface roughness and longer cutting edge life, regardless of changes in machining details or materials.
