A 70MVA 1,500min-1 or 1,800min-1 salient pole type structure in which the pole head is bolted to a cross-shaped shaft that is integrated with the magnetic pole. The short circuit ratio is slightly lower than that of a two-pole machine, and the field winding is surface (side) cooled. Due to the small salient magnetic poles and small GAP, the distortion of the voltage waveform is slightly larger than that of the 2P machine. Although they are cheaper than two-pole machines, they generally require an additional reduction gear. Efficiency at 100% load is 98.0%.
