About This Product

■Mechanism of light emission

When an electric current is applied to certain organic compounds (light-emitting materials), the molecules of certain organic compounds (light-emitting materials) enter a high-energy excited state due to the electrical energy. Organic EL (electroluminescence) utilizes the phenomenon of emitting light due to the energy difference when this returns to its original state. Organic compounds are in powder form and do not emit light as they are. Light emission is made possible by stacking layers that have functions such as controlling the flow of electrons, sandwiching a "light-emitting layer" made of a thin plate of light-emitting material. A material designed to emit light in this way is called an "element."

■High contrast, high color gamut reproducibility, and high-speed response

Since the elements themselves emit light, it is possible to express deep black and various colors found in nature. Additionally, the response time of the element is short, allowing for smooth video display.

■Realizes thinner and lighter weight

Unlike LCDs that require a backlight, organic EL eliminates the need for a backlight as each pixel can turn on and off. This makes it possible to make displays thinner and lighter, making it possible to create displays in a variety of shapes.

■Power saving

Organic EL turns off the light emitting part that represents black, so it consumes less power than an LCD that always has a backlight.

■Blue light reduction

The blue emission wavelength can be freely adjusted using organic materials, making it possible to reduce harmful blue light.

■Products using organic EL materials

Because organic EL displays have many advantages, they are increasingly being installed in a variety of electronic products such as high-performance terminals such as smartphones and tablets, handheld game consoles, and televisions. It is also possible to create flexible displays, transparent displays, etc., and the applications are wide-ranging. Smartphones and computers equipped with foldable displays have been released in recent years, and the market is expected to continue growing.
