About This Product

This was made possible in collaboration with XTIA's partner company, JUKI. A hybrid inspection solution equipped with a 12 megapixel optical camera and a high-definition S40 type optical comb sensor. By using a camera for high-speed visual inspection and obtaining highly accurate 3D defect information on detected defects using an optical comb, it is possible to propose a combination of short takt times and highly accurate defect analysis in automatic inspection of medium and large parts.

Automating inspection is extremely difficult because there are a wide variety of defects that need to be inspected, and it is realistically impossible to detect them all with a single sensor. Using different sensors to detect different types of defects takes time and costs, and as a result, becomes a major barrier to automating inspections. Optical comb sensors can detect defects over a very wide range, but optical comb sensors and optical cameras are complementary in their detection capabilities. For example, a stain without a three-dimensional shape can be detected by an optical camera, but cannot be detected by an optical comb sensor.

In addition, foreign objects made of the same material cannot be detected with an optical camera because there is almost no color difference, but they can be detected with an optical comb sensor. Therefore, by using a hybrid method that combines an optical comb sensor and an optical camera, it is possible to realize a wide range of defect detection by utilizing this complementary relationship. In addition, by taking advantage of the high speed of the optical camera, the optical camera detects defects with a slight over-detection, and only the detected defects are detected by the optical comb sensor, thereby achieving a significant cycle time reduction and automatic processing. It also makes it possible to carry out inspections.
