■Updated passive probe

The PP007 represents the latest technology in passive probe design. The miniature probe is a rugged probe suitable for everyday use and is optimized to maximize waveform fidelity, including high frequency signal components. The sharp probe tip* is spring-loaded and retracts into the narrow probe head. The tip will not slip off the object being probed. This is important when probing surface mount components with small geometries. The small 2.5 mm ground sleeve makes probing dense circuits easier and provides much better visibility than 5 mm and 3.5 mm probes. *Rigid chips are also available.

■Optimized for HF applications

To minimize high-frequency signal loading, the input capacitance of the probe is very low for a passive probe. However, maintaining resonance beyond the passband also requires low interconnect inductance. Probes with limited interconnect accessories often require longer input or ground leads to connect to the circuit. This adds inductance and lowers the resonant frequency. Accessories such as ground springs and innovative ground blades (PK007-013) provide very low inductance ground interconnections. The copper tape (PK007-014) provided with the probe can be placed on top of the IC and connected to its ground pin to create a convenient ground plane to connect the probe to. When used with a ground blade, this method provides an ideal ground connection for probing signals with high frequency content.
