■What is explosion-proof type?
In the unlikely event that a gas explosion occurs inside the motor, the structure is able to withstand the pressure and there is no risk of external explosive gas igniting. An increased safety explosion-proof motor is a motor with increased safety in terms of structure and temperature rise so that it can be used in locations with explosive gas.
A flameproof explosion-proof motor is a motor with a stricter structure than an increased-safety explosion-proof motor, such as clearances and wall thickness for each component. It is manufactured in accordance with the factory electrical equipment explosion-proof guidelines, has been certified by the Industrial Safety Technology Association, and is delivered with a certification badge.
■Increased safety explosion-proof motor
- Increased safety explosion-proof motors are safer than general-purpose motors due to their structure and characteristics, and are designed to prevent them from becoming a source of ignition.
- Mainly used in Class 2 hazardous locations such as chemical factories and various plants where explosive gas is present.
・The allowable lock-in time is displayed on the product, and the protection relay at startup must be set within this time.
■Pressure-proof explosion-proof motor
・In the event that an explosion occurs inside the motor, the pressure-resistant explosion-proof motor has a structure that allows the container to withstand the explosion pressure and prevent flames from igniting the gas outside.
- Mainly used in Class 1 hazardous locations such as chemical factories and various plants where explosive gas is present.
