■Types of image sensors
They are broadly divided into two types: "CCD image sensors" and "CMOS image sensors", and the manufacturing processes and signal readout methods differ. A CCD image sensor (Charge Coupled Device) accumulates charge converted from light through a photodiode, transfers the charge between adjacent elements like a bucket brigade, and then converts the charge into voltage using an amplifier. This is a mechanism to transfer the information.
A CMOS image sensor (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) differs from a CCD image sensor in that each element is equipped with an amplifier.The amplifier converts the charge that is converted and accumulated from light through a photodiode into voltage each time, and then the switch It is a mechanism that transfers by turning ON/OFF.
■Advantages Disadvantages
While CCD image sensors transfer charges using a bucket brigade method and later convert them into voltage, CMOS image sensors convert charges into voltage each time and can then transfer only the necessary voltage by turning a switch ON/OFF. Therefore, you can speed up the transfer.
