■Challenge to carbon neutrality
Did you know that pumps can reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions? ESG, SDGs, sustainability, decarbonization, carbon neutral. Nowadays, not a day goes by that I don't see or hear these words on TV, in newspapers, or on the Internet.
The transition from fossil fuels to clean energy has become a common challenge for all humankind. Torishima is the world's most energy-efficient company, and is taking on the challenge of becoming carbon neutral by promoting energy savings with the world's highest level of high-efficiency pumps.
■Achieving the world's highest level of pump efficiency
Try to become carbon neutral by reducing power consumption and CO2 with pumps. In Japan, "Motor Efficiency Regulations (Top Runner Regulations)" began in 2015, and as a move toward carbon neutrality, "Pump Efficiency Regulations" have begun around the world.
Among these, Europe is leading the way in terms of pump efficiency regulations. Its efficiency index is specified by MEI*, and is set at "MEI ≥ 0.40". Torishima has developed the ``Super Eco Pump,'' which has achieved Europe's highest grade of ``MEI≧0.70'' and has achieved the world's highest level of pump efficiency.
■What is Torishima's "Eco Pump"?
In the pump industry, small pumps are representative of general-purpose products, and people tend to think that all pumps are the same. However, Torishima's Eco Pump is different.
This is because Torishima's original specialty is large, high-pressure pumps used in seawater desalination plants and power plants. Each product is manufactured to order, and a high level of safety and efficiency is required.
We have developed, manufactured and sold Eco Pump by utilizing this extremely advanced technology that we have cultivated over 100 years as a pump manufacturer in our standard pumps.
Since fiscal 2009, we have been promoting energy-saving activities using eco-pumps under the name "Pump de Eco" in order to show people that even standard pumps can achieve significant energy savings by incorporating professional perspectives and methods. In fact, many customers have installed Eco Pumps and achieved significant energy savings, which is why we received the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Energy Saving Award in 2014.
Now that the world is moving towards carbon neutrality in earnest, there is a growing interest among customers who are highly conscious of energy conservation. Therefore, we have released an upgraded version of the Eco Pump that further increases the efficiency of the Eco Pump, the ``Super Eco Pump''.
