Dyne-A-Mite VCP Variable Scientific Plasma Processing provides superior processing for difficult-to-process applications. In this method, air (O2, N2) is mixed with other gases to deposit various chemical groups on the substrate surface, increasing the surface energy. Variable chemistry plasma treatment is essentially an etching and functionalization process that provides different surface properties depending on the gas chemistry used.
Variable chemical plasma facilitates the application of all types of coatings, adhesives, inks, labels and markings and improves adhesion. In-line processing eliminates costly chemical priming, etching, and vacuum processes.
Dyne-A-Mite VCP is highly effective in treating and cleaning all types of polymer, elastomer and glass surfaces. We handle extruded materials, drawn materials, and molded materials. This process is ideal for PE, PP, PET, nylon, vinyl, polystyrene, polycarbonate, PVC, and all other types of aged and thermoset plastics.
Common processing applications include pre-treating plastics for bonding, pre-treating plastics for finishing, and pre-treating before printing. It also cleans glass, cleans/activates lens surfaces before coating, removes contaminant-adsorbing surface monolayers, sterilizes microbial culture dishes, sports shoe components (EPDM, neoprene), mobile phone jackets (ABS/ Also suitable for PC).
■Mechanism of variable plasma treatment
Variable chemical plasmas are formed using basic principles found in air plasma and flame plasma processing. Similar to air plasma fields, chemical plasma fields are generated in an electrically charged atmosphere. Instead of air, this method utilizes other gases that deposit various chemical groups on the substrate surface to improve its surface energy.
Variable chemistry plasma treatment is essentially a micro-etching process that provides different surface properties depending on the gas chemistry used. Variable chemistry plasma systems are the gentlest and most advanced technology available, making them ideal for delicate and difficult-to-process materials.
