About This Product

■Features

・Surface machining is possible on workpieces of φ50 or less. ・This is a simple holder with only one wheel installed. ・Two types of wheels, φ10 and φ15, can be used. - Recommended when flattening with a Swiss-type automatic lathe. The design is such that even Swiss-type automatic lathes do not interfere with the guide bush.

■Knurling pattern that can be processed

・Flat/Straight (RAA) ・Diagonal right/Spiral R30° (RBR30°) ・Oblique left/Spiral L30° (RBL30°) ・Diagonal right/Spiral R45° (RBR45°) ・Oblique left/Spiral L45° (RBL45°)

■Supported pitch

0.3 to 1.2mm *Supported pitch varies depending on the wheel and pattern used.

■Main equipment that can be installed

・Swiss type automatic lathe ・Small turret lathe ・Desk lathe etc.

■Cutting knurling tools cannot be used. In such cases, there is a rolling knurling tool.

Every day, we receive inquiries from customers who are looking for knurling tools. A frequently asked question is which is better: cutting or rolling. We recommend cutting first because it gives a nice finish and is relatively easy to set up. However, there are some workpieces for which cutting knurling tools cannot be used. In such cases, we recommend rolling knurling tools. (The lineup of rolling knurling tools has been updated in 2018)

■What kind of workpieces cannot be used with cutting knurling tools?

If the following applies to you, you should consider rolling knurling. ・Workpieces where the entire wheel hits the workpiece when cutting in the x direction (e.g. when knurling the middle part of the workpiece instead of the tip) ・Works with knurling instructions up to just before the flange ・Workpiece whose length is shorter than the thickness of the wheel (It is no different from rolling as it only needs to be pressed in the X direction. A rigid rolling knurling tool is more advantageous) ・R is specified for the number of peaks, peak angle, peak height, peak and valley bottom. Since it is not possible to mold precise shapes with knurling, it is better to consider processing methods such as serrations/splines. For example, serration/spline processing methods on a lathe include hobbing and fly cutting.
