Detection principle
■Catalytic combustion method (P-508, P-510H, PTC608)
The detection section incorporates two platinum wire elements (D: gas detection element, C: temperature compensation element) that are heated to a relatively low temperature by an electric current, and the temperature compensation element reacts to flammable gas. measures have been taken to ensure that this does not occur. When the combustible gas in the sensing gas comes into contact with the gas sensing element, it burns due to catalytic action, and the generated heat increases the temperature of the platinum wire, increasing its electrical resistance.
The amount of change in resistance value is proportional to the combustible gas concentration in the detected gas, so gas concentration can be detected by detecting the amount of change. The measurement range is from 0 to 100% LEL, and 100% LEL is the concentration of the flammable gas at its lower explosion limit.
■Thermal conduction type (GC-708, PTC-608)
The detection section incorporates a platinum wire gas detection element D that is heated to a relatively low temperature by an electric current and a temperature compensation element C, and the temperature compensation element is constructed so that it does not come into contact with the detection gas. Since the thermal conductivity of gas varies depending on the type and composition ratio of the gas, if the concentration of combustible gas in the sensing gas changes, the amount of heat removed from the sensing element will change, and the electrical resistance of the sensing element will increase or decrease.
The amount of change in resistance value is proportional to the combustible gas concentration in the detected gas, so gas concentration can be detected by detecting the amount of change, and the measurement range is from 0 to 100 vol%.
