About This Product

RedEdge-P is a high-resolution multispectral camera. By pan-sharpening the multispectral image, the resolution of the image taken from the air at an altitude of 60m is reduced to 2cm GSD. With 5 narrow multispectral bands and scientific grade filters, it is the perfect sensor to calculate maps such as NDVI (vegetation index) and NDRE to target a variety of crops. ■Features RedEdge-P is a drone-specific multispectral camera for smart agriculture. Panchromatic bands can significantly increase the GSD (ground resolution) of multispectral images that are originally low resolution. Narrow spectral bands (wavelengths) allow for more detailed analysis of crop data. Additionally, by taking up to three images per second, the area of data that can be acquired at one time is larger than with conventional cameras. ■1.6MP resolution with 5 narrow spectral bands Micasense series cameras are particular about narrow bands. If the band width (wavelength) is wide, the measurement range will be too wide and subtle changes will be lost. Narrow bands give you more accurate data and better insight into your crop's health. ■Further improve image resolution with pan-sharpening processing Pansharpening is a process that improves the overall resolution of an image by fusing a high-resolution panchromatic image with a low-spatial resolution multispectral image. It helps in creating high-resolution RGB composite images and high-resolution agricultural indicators like NDVI and NDRE. Pan-sharpening with the RedEdge-P camera's panchromatic sensor increases the GSD (ground resolution) of the image from 7.7cm to 3.98cm at a flight altitude of 120m. ■GSD of RedEdge-P camera GSD (Ground Resolution) refers to the pixel size of an image in cm. The lower the GSD, the smaller the pixels and the more they can fit into the image, resulting in higher resolution. Depending on the purpose of use, it may be okay to have a high GSD, but generally speaking, the lower the GSD, the wider the scope of use.
