About This Product

This single machine can handle four types of tests: compression, extraction pressure, stress relaxation, and fracture. It is possible to understand various properties with a powder amount that is several tenths of that of a large compression testing machine. In recent years, in the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries, there has been an increasing need to understand powder properties such as compressibility from the initial design stage in order to develop products more quickly and accurately. Particularly in the development of pharmaceuticals, the active ingredients are extremely expensive and can only be obtained in extremely small amounts, so there has been a strong desire to develop a device that can elucidate the characteristics of powders at the drug discovery stage. MPC-200 is a revolutionary device that can evaluate various powder properties using only a few dozen mg of powder. Measurements and conditions can be easily set using the touch panel, and the timing to start compression can be accurately detected using a non-contact proximity sensor. Sample cells are available in φ3 and φ5 as standard, and can load up to 200kgf, making it possible to apply pressures of 277MPa and 100MPa, respectively. The analysis data can be imported to your PC and processed easily.

■Measurable items

・Compression test Measures the punch load and displacement during compression. The amount of energy consumed during compression is also automatically calculated on the PC. It is useful for analyzing compaction processes such as particle behavior during powder compaction. ・Pressure release test After the compression test, remove the lower punch, attach the punch ring, and compress again to perform a pressure release test on the compact. This is an indicator of powder adhesion and residual stress on the mortar wall. ・Stress relaxation test When the stress reaches a set value during compression, the upper punch is fixed and the subsequent stress relaxation is measured. The viscoelasticity of powder can be evaluated, and the effect of tableting speed on powder compressibility can also be predicted. ・Destructive test Destructive testing is one of the most basic physical properties of a molded object, and reflects the internal structure of the molded object. With the MPC-200, it is possible to measure the fracture hardness of molded objects by using a sample cell for destructive testing.
