About This Product

■What is MaxSorb?

High-performance porous carbon (MaxSorb®) is an alkali (KOH) activated carbon that Kansai Thermal Chemical Co., Ltd. was the first in the world to successfully mass-produce in 1992.

■Point1: High specific surface area

Typical steam-activated carbon products are mainly products with a capacity of around 1,000m2/g, but some alkaline activated carbons have a capacity of over 2,000m2/g, demonstrating high adsorption performance (high performance).

■Point2: Active point

One of the features of alkaline activation is that more active points (edges of carbon) are formed than with steam activated carbon. This carbon end face is said to be chemically active, and evaluating the end face can be used as a guide to the carbon's reaction activity. Potential uses for the end surface include, for example, electrode materials for electric double layer capacitors and residual chlorine removal in water purifiers.

■Application examples

MaxSorb is attracting attention from various fields due to its high specific surface area. For example, in the field of capacitors, our activated carbon is recognized not only in Japan but also around the world as a high-capacity activated carbon.
