About This Product

Recently, polyethylene (PE) derived from plants (Bio-PE) has begun to be used. Bio-PE is soft and stretchable, so it has excellent ductility, but it has poor hardness (rigidity), so its uses are limited. Therefore, in order to improve the rigidity of Bio-PE, it is convenient to alloy it with plant-derived polylactic acid (PLA), but PE and PLA are not compatible. Therefore, we created a Bio-PE/PLA alloy material using a high shear molding process, and the mechanical performance of both polymers was synergistically expressed by forming a microstructure (high elastic modulus and excellent elongation at break). was successfully developed. PLA is a biodegradable polymer, and this alloy has a high vegetable content, making it an environmentally friendly eco-material.
