About This Product

LQM is a device that allows quick and easy beam analysis. Measure and characterize the beam propagation of UV to NIR lasers and easily analyze the measurement results. One common application of LQM is quality assurance of products manufactured using lasers. The LQM+ has a compact design that directly measures the near-focal power density distribution generated by an integrated focusing lens. The advantage of this measurement method is that the effects of abnormal light due to diffraction, misalignment, asymmetric beams, etc. are directly reflected in the power density distribution measurement results, so they can be checked immediately. LQM+ is ISO11146 compliant and can be quickly measured with automatic parameter measurements. You can install LQM+ directly in front of the laser and measure it by aligning it with the laser beam. All optical components and measurements are integrated into this basic system. Beam splitters, absorbers, and alignment units can be installed at any time to increase power levels up to multi-kW. Fiber holders, collimators, ND filters, and additional objectives can also be installed as needed. Power measurement is possible with a custom-made absorber.

■Principle

Characterizing a collimated laser beam requires a very long beam path of 3-6 Rayleigh lengths, thus typically requiring measurement distances on the order of 10 m. Size constraints usually preclude this type of measurement. ISO1146 therefore recommends focal caustic measurements to measure the beam quality M2 as an alternative. LQM+ forms a caustic inside the device by focusing the irradiated collimated light. The focused beam passes through multiple integrated attenuators and objective lenses, and is magnified and displayed on the CCD sensor. Using the two-dimensional power density distribution, the new LDS determines the beam radius, beam position, and laser beam alignment information. Repeated measurements at different positions within the device determine all the parameters required for the caustic display. The dynamic range of the system is expanded by electronic irradiation time control of the CCD chip. Therefore, there is no need to adjust the ND filter during measurement.
