About This Product

■Summary

Ethical vegan leather made from organically grown cacti and plant-based polyurethane in Mexico. It has excellent flexibility, durability, robustness, and water repellency, and enables sustainable manufacturing for a wide range of applications. Available from 1M from 13 types in stock.

■HISTRY

ADRIANO DI MARTI is a company based in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city. Through repeated trial and error, we succeeded in developing Desserto®️, an eco-friendly vegan leather based on organically grown cacti and plant-derived bio-polyurethane.

■SUSTAINABILITY

Desserto®️ is a sustainable plant-based vegan leather made from cactus and free of toxic chemicals phthalates and PVC. It is extremely soft to the touch and exhibits excellent performance in a variety of applications as an alternative to animal-derived raw materials. We do not use chemicals such as herbicides or pesticides on our farms and strive to preserve biodiversity.

■The cactus...

-A natural carbon sink, absorbing 8,100 tons of CO2 per year on production farms. ・As it is a perennial plant, it does not need to be replanted every year and grows naturally after being harvested. ・Since no irrigation facilities are required, water resources can be significantly saved.

■PLANT BASED

Approximately 200 million cattle graze in the Amazon basin, known as the ``lungs of the earth.'' Large amounts of forest resources are being cut down to secure pasture, and the cultivation of fodder requires vast amounts of farmland. Also, large amounts of fish are caught as feed for livestock. Animal-derived leather is a by-product of meat and can be seen as an effective use of resources, but chrome tanning and other methods generate harmful substances during the processing process. Additionally, it is said that 70% of untreated leather ends up in landfills as solid waste, which is a major social problem in leather producing regions as it causes wastewater pollution.
