About This Product

■What is glass fiber?

It is made by melting glass at high temperatures and pulling it into a fiber. Those with short fiber lengths are called glass wool, and those with long fibers are called glass fibers. However, as glass fiber deteriorates over time, it can develop small cracks and lose its strength, so its useful life is often limited to a few years. We deliver twisted glass fiber products according to customer specifications.

■What is glass fiber?

Glass fiber is rarely used as a fiber for clothing, but is very often used as a reinforcing material for plastics. It is also used as a material for work gloves and clothing that require some heat resistance. In general households, it is used as FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) in things such as bathtubs. It is also used in small fishing boats and pleasure boats. As you probably know, the ceiling of Tokyo Dome is made of tents. It was made by a ``tent shop'' in Tokyo called Taiyo Kogyo. This is different from FRP, but is glass fiber coated with resin. The behind-the-scenes story behind this production was featured in Project X Challengers in 2010 and was published in a book. Perhaps our company uses fiberglass that we have twisted.
