■Master ring and ring gauge
Basically, the master ring and ring gauge are the same. The biggest difference is that ring gauges measure by bringing the ring gauge itself into contact with the object to be measured. The measurement method is simple, and it is a judgment of whether it will fit or not. Therefore, there is a possibility that it will wear out quickly, so as a countermeasure against wear, we use carbide material or apply a TIN coating.
■Master ring specifications
The master ring does not come into direct contact with the object to be measured or inspected, and is used to zero-set (calibrate) the measuring instrument used to measure them, so it rarely wears out. However, you need to be careful about changes over time, so check and calibrate the master ring itself at least once a year. The material is SKS3, and after heat treatment, sub-zero treatment and super-subzero treatment are performed to prevent aging.
Hardness is often HRC58 or higher.
