■Mechanism of wind pressure reduction

A large vortex called a Karman vortex is generated behind a wire placed in a wind current. The air pressure in this vortex is lower than outside, so the pressure difference with the front creates a large wind pressure on the wire. On the other hand, when grooves are applied to the wire surface, the flow of wind along the surface becomes turbulent, and the wind sticks to the surface for a long time.As a result, the area of ​​low pressure behind the wire is reduced and the wind pressure is reduced. will be done.

This low wind pressure insulated wire was jointly developed with Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc., and its wind pressure characteristics were confirmed through wind tunnel experiments at the Institute of Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University.
