Silicon carbide (SiC) is the second hardest material after diamond. It maintains its strength up to high temperatures (1,500°C), is lightweight, and has high corrosion resistance, making it the best heat-resistant material and is often used for hermetic seals, heat-resistant pipes, and metal casting containers.
Silicon nitride (Si3N4) has the best toughness and thermal shock resistance at high temperatures, is lightweight, and has high corrosion resistance, so it is used as a material for engine parts, protective tubes for metal casting, rods, and spouts.
