■What is a friction damper?A friction damper is a damping element that converts the kinetic energy of a part into thermal energy, thereby mitigating harsh impacts and preventing the amplitude from becoming too large.
 
■Damper structureA friction damper basically consists of a housing, a tappet, and a friction element that acts as a connector. The relative movement of the friction element between the housing and the tappet creates a damping or frictional force.
 
■Buffering powerThe buffering force can be controlled by friction elements.
 
■Damper characteristic lineFriction dampers have various characteristic lines. They range from linear force progressions to soft starts and spring-supported characteristic lines. Therefore, we can create the ideal damper for each application case from a modular system. Buffer force is determined by temperature and speed.
