About This Product

■FY2016 Adoption of public building construction standard specifications

Our SUS444 hot water storage tank was recognized for our delivery record and was adopted in the 1993 Ministry of Construction Common Specifications for Mechanical Equipment Construction.

■Advantages

Does not generate SCC and is resistant to various types of corrosion. Lifespan is semi-permanent.

■Disadvantages

Advanced processing technology is required.

■Perfectly clears stress corrosion cracking (SCC)

In 1978, MORIMATSU was the first in the industry to successfully commercialize a SUS444 hot water storage tank that completely overcomes stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and has since delivered over 32,000 tanks. SUS444 hot water storage tanks do not require cathodic protection, so they are much more economical than hot water storage tanks made of other materials, not only in terms of initial costs but also running costs. What is Stress Corrosion Cracking?

■Conditions for stress corrosion cracking to occur

・Material is austenitic stainless steel such as SUS304 and 316 ・Stress is machining residual tensile stress ・The environment is a warm water environment of 50℃ to 100℃ containing CI⁻ ions. Stress corrosion cracking tends to occur in high temperature aqueous solutions containing chloride solutions, and the cracking characteristics occur perpendicular to the principal stress direction. Stress corrosion cracking also occurs under the above conditions. Therefore, ferritic SUS444 is the most suitable stainless steel material for use in hot water environments such as hot water tanks.
