About This Product
In addition to diffusing light, various degrees of diffusion are available, making it ideal for adjusting light intensity when measuring the optical characteristics of a light source.
■Summary
A diffuser plate is used to diffuse the light from the light source and obtain uniform light with no unevenness in the amount of light. In particular, it contributes to improved repeatability regarding reproducibility when measuring light source colors. Diffractive diffusers (LSDs) have the effect of suppressing chromaticity measurement dispersion to a lower level than ordinary diffusers or ND filters, and it is also possible to vary the light intensity by selecting the divergence angle.
■Features
・Equivalent effect to lenses
The randomly placed micron-level surface structure created using a surface relief hologram pattern can be expected to have the same effect as a micro-concave lens array, diffusing light through refraction.
・Freedom of choice of light source
Since there is no wavelength dependence, it is effective for various light sources such as laser light, white light, and LED light. Even with coherent light and incoherent light, it is possible to diffuse and shape the light into a circle, ellipse, or rectangle at any angle.
・High transmittance
It has a high transmittance of 85% to 92% in the wavelength range of 365nm to 1,600nm, allowing you to fully utilize the power of the light source. (The transmittance varies depending on the transmittance of the material, the thickness of the board, the presence or absence of options, etc.)
・Light distribution control
The incident wavelength light is distributed (diffused) within a predetermined range and at the same time a high level of uniformity is achieved. It works best with parallel light, but also works with light sources with divergent angles.
■Comparison with general diffuser plate
LSD forms a hologram pattern with fine grooves of approximately 5 μm in diameter on the substrate surface, allowing the light divergence angle to be set arbitrarily, and because the pattern has no periodicity, moiré fringes and color misalignment do not occur. It is designed to be difficult. Additionally, since the diffusion angle can be selected, stable diffusion and high light density (increasing transmittance) can be achieved by combining it with lamp-type LEDs that have a divergence angle.
On the other hand, general diffuser plates are polished by sandblasting a substrate (sapphire, quartz, BK7, etc.) with grit depending on the roughness and processed into a matte finish, so the polishing may be done in one direction. Even with common diffuser plates that claim to have high precision, most of them are polished in two directions: top, bottom, left, and right, so the diffuser surface has directionality, and the diffused light may cause moiré fringes or color misalignment.
