About This Product

■Summary

2DMax is a 2D code reading algorithm that addresses various degradations in code quality of 2D Direct Part Marks (DPMs). 2DMax with PowerGrid combines both texture and geometry data to reliably read low-quality 2D codes, including missing quiet zones, finder patterns, and clocking patterns. 2DMax provides superior 2D code read rates and accuracy, even on the most difficult to read, highly damaged codes. 2DMax with PowerGrid can correctly read 2D codes even when essential elements of the Data Matrix code are missing or damaged. Traditional image-based barcode readers use shape-based algorithms to detect finder and clocking patterns to determine the correct code orientation and module size for the data matrix. If the quiet zone is missing or the finder or clocking pattern is hidden or missing, a second texture-based algorithm is required to identify and read the code. 2DMax combines shape-based pattern search with texture-based analysis (examining the scene and finding similar textures from clustered data modules). Once a module is detected, we check the size of the module and the size of the data matrix. A traditional 2DMax code reading algorithm then reads and decodes the data.
