Many medium and large components have deep and complex structures and must meet high quality requirements and demanding designs in modern manufacturing. Until now, inline inspection of such structures with micrometer precision has remained elusive. This is especially true for bores, as accessing dimensional information deep within the cylindrical structure while providing micrometer-level accuracy is a critical challenge.
The OptoComb 3D scanner, which leverages a unique coaxial configuration and high precision, can be combined with a 45° mirror to successfully address this issue.
We therefore developed the OptoComb V-mirror system, which combines an OptoComb 3D scanner with an inverted V-shaped mirror that translates along the z-axis within the structure. The system brings new dimensional inspection solutions to the table, allowing high-precision scanning of internal walls of bores, cylinders and other complex structures, and GD&T analysis of a wide range of manufactured parts.
