■Ion exchange resin for water treatment

The tap water and well water that we come into contact with on a daily basis may appear clear and clean, but it contains positive ions (cations) and anions (anions). Ion exchange resins remove and purify these components from water.

■Types of ion exchange resins for water treatment

・Water that contains large amounts of calcium and magnesium is called hard water, and water from which these ions have been removed is called soft water. Strongly acidic cationic resin is used to convert hard water into soft water. Once the exchange capacity is saturated, it can be regenerated with table salt and used repeatedly. Soft water is used for boiler water, cleaning water, salt water, etc. - A resin that removes ionized electrolytes from water and produces pure water, using a strong acidic cation resin and a strong basic anion resin. ・Ultra-pure water is made from water that has undergone pre-treatment (activated carbon, RO, EDI, ion exchange resin water purifier, etc.) using a mixed bed cartridge type water purifier. Ultrapure water, as the name suggests, is extremely pure water. The resin is the same as that used in normal mixed bed systems, but since high purity is required, a strongly basic anion resin with low TOC elution is used. Ultrapure water is used for electronics-related water, glass and lens cleaning water, pharmaceutical water, etc.

■Ion exchange resin for wastewater treatment

Ion-exchange resin removes harmful ions from wastewater to below wastewater standards, allowing it to be discharged, and it can also be purified and reused (recycled). It is also used to recover useful substances from wastewater. The ion exchange resin used varies depending on the type of ions contained.

■Chelate resin

A resin that has the ability to selectively capture or separate specific metal ions by creating chelate bonds from liquids containing metal ions.

■Ion exchange resin for wire electrical discharge machines

The ion exchange resin used in wire electrical discharge machines is a mixed bed type of strongly acidic cationic resin and strongly basic anionic resin. The resin used here is not recycled because it contains various impurities.
