■Summary

The UHPC series is an abbreviation for Ultra High Precision Coulometry, which is a measurement technology for evaluating the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries devised by Prof. Jeff Dahn of Dalhousie University in Canada. This system performs precision charge/discharge tests with a stability of 10 ppm or less and a measurement accuracy of 50 ppm or less, making it possible to evaluate side reactions and life expectancy of lithium-ion batteries due to slight differences in the amount of coulombs at the initial stage. ■Features

High precision coulometry (HPC) is an evaluation method first proposed by Professor Jeff Dahn of Dalhalsey University in Canada in 2010, which accurately measures the coulombic efficiency (CE) of a battery and uses it to quantify side reactions. We perform evaluation and analysis of deterioration factors. By using this method, it is possible to identify slight differences in Coulombic efficiency at the initial stage of charge/discharge measurements, making it possible to evaluate battery performance and predict battery life in a short time.

■Highly accurate coulombic efficiency measurement

The founding members of NOVONIX have been involved in Prof. Dahn's HPC measurement system development project, so they have a deep understanding of equipment overview, advantages of evaluation methods, and data analysis, and have successfully commercialized the HPC measurement system. NOVONIX's UHPC series precision charge/discharge evaluation system has a system that maintains the cell and measuring device at a constant temperature, and by minimizing voltage drift due to temperature changes, it has high stability with a typical value of 10 ppm or less, and 50 ppm or less. It is possible to perform charge/discharge measurements with high accuracy and calculate coulombic efficiency with high accuracy. High-precision coulometry is difficult to measure with general charging/discharging equipment due to various error factors, and the main error factors are listed below.
