About This Product

TLD is a spring-loaded torque limiter suitable for medium and low speed applications.

A torque limiter is an overload prevention device that instantly cuts off power transmission that exceeds a set value to prevent damage to parts. For example, if a motor is unable to rotate due to an abnormality on the output side during drive transmission, if the torque limiter cuts off the power, the motor can continue to rotate and damage due to seizure can be avoided.

Even if the specifications of the motor are high enough that there is a concern that the parts on the output side may break, damage can be prevented by setting the torque limiter setting torque below the allowable torque of the output parts. As soon as the torque on the output side drops below the set torque, the shutoff state returns to the transmission state.

Torque limiters are used in a wide range of applications, but TOK's torque limiters are mainly used to prevent double feeding of banknotes and paper. Since the spring type uses frictional resistance, it is suitable for medium to low speed applications, which is not as fast as using the magnetic type.

How to use torque limiter
■When used as a safety mechanism: electric shutter, belt conveyor, conveyor deviceFor example, if something gets caught in a conveyor belt, using a torque limiter allows the motor to continue running, but the belt conveyor can be stopped instantly.

■When using to prevent paper feeding or double feeding: multifunction devices, card readers, OCR (high-speed scanners), printers, copy machinesWhen using a multifunction device or printer, use a torque limiter to prevent paper from being fed twice.

■Tensioning and winding equipment: wrapping machine, packaging machine, label printerBy using a torque limiter, label printers can maintain tension on the roll of paper when printing or feeding labels.
