About This Product

Sherlog MATE is an ultrasonic detector developed by SDT in Belgium, which detects naturally occurring ultrasonic waves and artificially generated ultrasonic waves (approximately 40kHz) in various types of equipment. You can check for abnormalities, wear and tear, and airtightness. The principle is a device that detects ultrasonic waves between ±2kHz around 38.4kHz, converts them into audible sounds, and outputs them as volume and numerical display. By being able to display numerical values, it is possible to numerically evaluate healthy and defective areas. For hatch cover airtightness inspection, an artificially generated ultrasonic transmitter is installed inside the ship's hold to detect ultrasonic waves leaking from areas that are not airtight, and then numerically evaluated. This airtightness test using ultrasonic waves is currently the mainstream overseas as a new inspection method to replace the hose test when inspecting hatch covers, and is currently being used in Japan as well.

■Advantages of ultrasonic testing

・Reduction of inspection time: Inspection can be done by one or two people, short time work = (cost reduction) ・Cargo protection: Cargo in the hold can be inspected without being unloaded. ・Can be used in any environment: Can be inspected while at anchor or while underway ・Identify the location of the leak: The leak location can be identified using the receiver.

■Advantages of Sherlog MATE - Pinpoints leakage points using sound and numerical values, allowing for numerical evaluation.

・The Sherlog receiver is lightweight, weighing only 700g, making it easy to work on site and does not place a burden on inspectors. - Built-in data storage software allows you to transfer measured data to a computer, making it easy to create reports. ・In addition to inspecting hatch covers, we can also inspect other equipment.

■Application examples other than hatch cover inspection/Airtightness testing of living areas, etc. (airtightness of closed spaces)

・Leak detection from piping and valves (air leak, vacuum leak) ・Detection of corona discharge in electrical equipment (tracking, earthing) ・Detection of bearing defects and abnormalities in rotating machines ・Non-contact temperature measurement *Optional sensors, etc. may be required.

■Type certification

TA stands for Type Approval, and has been type approved in accordance with the requirements of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) uniform regulation UR.Z17 (November 1999).
