■Spectral irradiance measurement using a probe
The main differences between optical probes for irradiance and illuminance measurements and for coupling light into spectrometers in general are in cosine correction, degree of optical throughput, and spectral range. Every optical probe includes a diffuser for the incident light. Behind the diffuser is the input face of the optical fiber, which is responsible for coupling the light into the spectrometer.

■Optical rope specifications
- For general applications, we recommend the EOP-120/EOP-121 series optical probes (the latter comes with a fiber bundle connector on the side) due to their excellent balance between cosine correction and optical throughput.
- For distributed light sources, the light throughput is low, similar to EOP-146, and very good cosine correction is required. The integrating sphere not only has a wide spectral range but also has an ideal cosine correction function. To meet these requirements, we offer a variety of ISP40s.
-Only the EOP-140 optical probe is recommended for applications requiring high optical throughput. For measurements with a viewing angle of 5.7° (the viewing angle typically used for direct sunlight measurements), the EOP-542 can be used.
