About This Product

■SummaryRhopoint TAMS™ is a new measuring instrument for quantifying appearance quality, developed in collaboration with Rhopoint, Volkswagen and AUDI. The adoption of a new metric developed to model the visual assessment of surface appearance quality allows for easy communication in the supply chain.

The instrument measures and quantifies surfaces at every stage of the painting process, from raw material to the final clear coat. In addition, even though it has advanced analysis functions, it does not damage the sample and makes it possible to take advantage of the portability of a portable device and perform live measurements.

■Main usesEvaluation of surface roughness and yuzu skin of automobile paint

■Surface roughness measurement- In the surface roughness measurement mode, surface roughness can be measured even during steel sheet processing and electrodeposition painting processes before clear coating.
- Easily evaluate and manage from low gloss to high gloss using the method specified by ISO.

■Yuzu skin measurement- Yuzu skin measurement mode allows you to manage the quality of the painted surface after clear painting.
・While achieving high visual correlation, the measurement results can be evaluated using intuitive and simple indicators such as QUALITY, HARMONY, SHARPNESS, WAVINESS, and DIMENSION.

■Measurement principle・Display the pattern on the LCD display and project it onto the sample.
・By changing the focus of the 2D sensor, the undulations of the sample surface and reflected image can be captured.

■Surface roughness measurement 4 evaluation indicators・Sa Calculate the surface roughness (Sa) in an arbitrarily specified wavelength range. *Height direction
・RaX Calculates the line roughness (Ra) in the X direction for an arbitrarily specified wavelength range. *Height direction
・RaY Calculate the line roughness (Ra) in the Y direction for an arbitrarily specified wavelength range. *Height direction
・RsM Calculate the Rsm value for the arbitrarily specified wavelength range. *Horizontal direction
*Calculate the average period length (Rsm value) of the roughness curve according to the arbitrarily specified wavelength range.
