However, in order to achieve this level of sophistication in monitoring and control, the challenge is to seamlessly integrate all technologies.

With the implementation of ATOP's protocol gateways, legacy substations that operate on outdated or uncommonly specialized protocols can remain in place. ATOP's protocol gateways combine a solid hardware platform with stable software to enable reliable, fault-tolerant, and transparent protocol conversion.

ATOP's wide range of products is designed to make integration as simple and seamless as possible. With over 80 protocol combinations across 10 different hardware platforms, users can choose from hundreds of products.

All products come with ATOP's user-friendly configuration tools that allow for rapid mapping of data points, allowing changes, upgrades, and integrations to be made quickly and cost-effectively.

■Architecture overviewATOP's family of protocol gateways is a powerful industrial platform that bundles various protocol stacks. It is possible to run client-server mode and master-slave mode simultaneously, and its architecture consists of the following three parts:

1. Device server/slave interface
Listen to a client/master external to a device like a PLC. A protocol gateway acts as a slave device to an external master according to the protocol it uses.

2.Protocol engine
It is the core part of the unit that moves, transforms, and maps data points, commands, and events between the client and server sides.

3. Device client/master interface
Actively polls and issues commands to external servers/slaves.
