About This Product

■Summary

This system non-invasively measures cholesterol ester and glucose concentrations in human skin, and measures total cholesterol, LDL, and blood sugar levels in the blood.

■System configuration

This system consists of the following devices. 1) Infrared light source section 2) Measuring part (ATR sensor part) 3) Irradiation optical system 4) Measurement optical system 5) Rotating filter unit 6) Detection part 7) Measurement control and data processing software 8) PC for control and data processing

■Specifications and functions of each part

1. Infrared light source The light source is a small infrared light source that efficiently emits light in the infrared region and has a small overall heat capacity to prevent overheating of the sensor unit. 2. Measuring part (ATR sensor part) ATR prism is an element that measures the absorbance of a sample by generating near-field light on its surface. 3. Irradiation optical system We will build an optical system that collects infrared light from a light source and irradiates it to the ATR prism. Brightness: F=1.0 Spherical mirror M1 converges the source light onto the ATR prism. 4. Measurement optical system This optical system efficiently collects the light emitted from the ATR prism, passes it through a filter, and then focuses it on the sensor. 5. Rotating filter unit This is a mechanism that sequentially inserts filters that separate the ATR output light (measurement light) into the light beam. 6. Detector Since the measurement wavelength spans a wide range in the infrared region (approximately 2 μm to 9 μm), - is limited. Among these, we adopted the following pyroelectric infrared sensor unit due to its good sensitivity and time response. 7. Chopper Pyroelectric sensors need to be used with intermittent light (alternating current), so a chopper is used. Since fluctuations in the chopping frequency affect the stability of the data, it is necessary that the rotation speed be precisely and precisely controlled. 8. Film sample holder In order to check the accuracy and concentration linearity of the measured values, it is necessary to measure a standard sample with a known absorption spectrum. Therefore, a mechanism is provided to set a film-like standard sample in the optical path.
