Pressure relief valves SPV/SPVF are direct acting spring sliding piston valves intended for installation on piping and suitable for protecting low pressure hydraulic circuits. Plumbing connections are made with either SAE mounting (3,000psi) or Whitworth pipe G threads.
■Valve structure
The sliding piston is pressed against the ring by a compression spring. This seals the pipe diameter and isolates the pump connection from the reservoir connection. The moment the operating pressure reaches the pressure adjusted by the adjustment screw, the separator opens and the oil flows into the reservoir tank. The spring chamber is pressure compensated by the bore.
When the valve starts, air must be bled from the spring chamber by an air bleed plug. The relief valve allows four different pressure settings because each compression spring only covers a limited pressure setting range due to the spring constant.
