■Ball screw analysis

In most cases, the ball screw loads are primarily axial. For this reason, life prediction according to ISO 3408-5 only takes into account axial loads. The software calculates the load distribution within the ball screw as a result of axial and radial loads and tilting moments. Based on Hertzian contact theory, the load distribution is calculated assuming a rigid screw and a rigid nut, considering the contact stiffness of the ball. Using the software option “Configuration” it is possible to calculate the preload nut. The orbit can be designed as a Gothic arch or a full radius. Life prediction is calculated from load distribution using an algorithm similar to ISO/TS 16281. Load capacity can be calculated according to the ISO 3408-5 or ISO 281/ISO 76 algorithms. Parameter surveys are automatically combined and displayed with input values ​​and a graphical representation of the results. Radial and axial thermal and elastic expansion effects or lead errors can optionally be taken into account.
