About This Product

■Features

A safe alternative to orthotolidine, which is feared to be carcinogenic. We have orthotolidine in stock. The "orthotolidine method" has traditionally been mainly used to measure residual chlorine (chlorine) contained in drinking water, but there are concerns that it is highly toxic and carcinogenic. In December 2000, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued a notice to discontinue the production of "orthotolidine" for tap water quality testing. This notice states that the use of "orthotolidine" will be discontinued after taking transitional measures for a certain period of time, and that the "DPD method (diethyl-P-phenylenediamine method)" will be adopted as an alternative method. We sell residual chlorine measuring instruments using the "DPD method" that are inexpensive and can easily detect residual chlorine. It can be conveniently used to check the cartridge life of water purifiers or to check residual chlorine in tap water.
