About This Product

■Product information

A half-wavelength dipole antenna is one of the antennas that has been used for a long time. It is often used as a reference antenna because it can be calculated using Maxwell's equations and Hertz's equations. An ideal lossless half-wave dipole has an isotropic gain of 2.15 dBi and an impedance of 73 Ω. The directivity pattern is circular in the H plane and "figure eight" in the E plane, with the maximum value perpendicular to the dipole axis. The beam width at half maximum (-3dB) is approximately 78°. The actual impedance of a dipole is determined by the width-to-length ratio of its elements, with typical values between 60 and 70 ohms. Dipoles for industrial applications can be used in a frequency range from 30MHz up to approximately 4GHz. Dipole elements come in two types: variable length (telescopic) and fixed types, and dipole antennas that support over 1GHz are usually fixed types. The most important applications of dipole antennas are test site assessment (NSA, normalized site attenuation measurements) and ERP (effective radiated power), EIRP (effective isotropic radiated power) measurements.
