■Electric resistance sensorThere are methods to measure water activity values, such as the equilibrium weight method and the dew point method, but this device uses an electrical resistance method that complies with the Food Sanitation Act. The food to be measured is inserted into a sealed space, water is evaporated at a constant temperature (usually 25°C), and the water vapor pressure is electrically measured when an equilibrium state is reached.

The water activity value is defined as the ratio of its water vapor pressure (P) to the vapor pressure of pure water (P0), P/P0. The measurement utilizes the property that free water evaporates easily, but bound water does not. Compared to other measurement methods, measurements using electrical resistance devices are less susceptible to the effects of volatile substances such as alcohol and organic acids.

■One-point adjustment using standard solutionThis product maintains accuracy by adjusting it using a standard solution that matches the humidity range in which it will be used. If sensor deterioration progresses, there is a high possibility that measurement accuracy will be affected in a shorter period of time. If the total correction value exceeds ±0.07Aw as shown in the figure on the right, the sensor may have deteriorated significantly, so a notification screen will appear recommending recalibration after adjustment. If this notification is displayed, please replace the sensor immediately.

■Communication method and connected terminalThis product connects to a compatible device using Bluetooth 5.0. To operate and check measurement results, you need to install the dedicated application "AwView" on your smartphone/tablet. Search for "AwView" from the App Store or Google Play and install it.
