About This Product

■Features

This medium is used to selectively isolate Staphylococcus aureus from foods, clinical materials, etc. and to measure the number of viable bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus decomposes mannitol, producing a vitelline reaction around the colony. Prevents the growth of bacteria other than Staphylococcus. Compared to conventional products, this medium uses specially purified egg yolk liquid, so the egg yolk reaction is clear and it is possible to selectively isolate many Staphylococcus aureus in 24 hours of culture. Strains with poor egg yolk reaction can be easily identified by culturing for 48 hours.

■Composition (per 1L of purified water)

・Peptone: 10.0g ・Meat extract: 1.0g ・Mannit: 10.0g ・Sodium chloride: 75.0g ・Phenol red: 0.025g ・Agar: 15.0g ・Egg yolk: 30.0ml ・pH7.4±0.2
