About This Product

■CST Technology

Capillary Suction Time has been used since the 1970s as a quick and reliable method for evaluating sludge filtration properties and conditions. It exhibits sludge filtration properties that approximate the results of all dewatering equipment, including dry beds, belt presses, vacuum filters, filter presses and centrifuges. The capillary suction pressure created by standard filter paper is used to draw water out of the sludge. The rate at which water soaks into the filter paper varies depending on the condition of the sludge and the filtration properties of the cake formed on the filter paper. CST is measured from two electrodes placed at a fixed distance from the funnel. Obtain the CST from two electrodes placed at standard spacing from the funnel. The time it takes water to pass through the two electrodes is CST. Since the forces generated by capillary suction are much greater than the static forces in the funnel, the test is independent of sludge volume and provides sufficient force to generate CST.
