About This Product

■Summary

Routine and research dissolved oxygen electrode suitable for biochemical, pharmaceutical, industrial and environmental research applications. The need to measure dissolved oxygen spans a wide range of applications, including industrial and educational applications such as blood and boiler feed water. Applications continue to grow in fields of development in physiology, microbiology and biotechnological processes such as fermentation. RANK Brothers oxygen electrodes are based on the Clark cell principle first developed by Lyeland C. Clark. Clark cells are known as oxygen membrane polaro detectors. Electrodes are designed to measure oxygen produced or taken up by cell suspensions, intracellular organelles, and enzymes. The electrode can measure partial pressures of gases and dissolved oxygen in the range of 10-4 to 1 atm. The oxygen electrode consists of two main parts. The electrode base has a central platinum electrode and reference silver/silver chloride electrodes attached. 3M KCl is used to conduct electricity between these electrodes, which are separated from the sample by a semipermeable membrane. The incubation and monitoring chamber set above the base is equipped with a water jacket. This jacket maintains the temperature of the sample and allows for highly accurate measurements. The plunger, which is set from the top of the chamber, has two functions. One separates the atmosphere and sample with a very small hole into which reagents are added using a syringe. Another feature allows measurement of small amounts of samples. Standard dissolved oxygen electrodes are made of Perspex or glass and have a sample volume of 1 to 7 ml. The base parts of Perspex and glass electrodes each have a unique shape and cannot be used interchangeably.
