■ Dose unit sampling device for DPI

Sampling apparatus for MDI with a flow rate of up to 100L/min can also be used with a dry powder inhaler (DPI). Like the sampling apparatus for MDI, the sampling apparatus for DPI can perform tests according to the pharmacopoeia as a unit dose. In the case of DPI, the dose of drug released is influenced by the strength and time interval of the patient's inspiration. Different types of inhalers provide varying degrees of resistance to flow rate. For these reasons, when making DPI measurements at intermediate values ​​of high flow rates, it is especially important to base the measurements on the pressure drop that occurs in a particular inhaler in order to determine the appropriate flow rate and time interval. To achieve the above factors it is important that sonic flow occurs at the flow control valve connected to the system. This method ensures that the flow rate through the impactor is set to the desired value and is not affected by pump operation. The resulting flow rate (Q) passes through the measuring inhaler, creating a pressure drop of 4.0 KPa, and is used to determine dose and particle size distribution. If a low resistance DPI with a flow rate (Q) exceeding 100L/min is used, it will be considered an exception and will be used at a flow rate of 100L/min. When using sampling apparatus for DPI, a critical flow controller is required to set the pressure drop across the inhaler.
