About This Product

■About objective micrometer

There are two types of objective micrometers: transmission type and reflection type. The transmission type has a scale vapor-deposited on a glass plate and is used to calibrate the ocular micrometer of a transmitted illumination type microscope, primarily a biological microscope. The reflective type has a round glass plate with a scale deposited on it embedded in the middle of a metal substrate (plate). The scale lines are missing from the deposited film (white) and appear black when viewed through the eyepiece of a microscope. Reflective illumination microscope, generally used for calibrating the eyepiece micrometer of metallurgical microscopes. For large measuring instruments, projectors, etc., we recommend a glass reference scale rather than an objective micrometer. ■How to care for the objective micrometer

Both transmission and reflection type objective micrometers can be cleaned by wiping them with a volatile substance such as ether or alcohol using a soft cloth or paper.

■Glass for stereo microscope

A single objective micrometer (stage micrometer) has four types of high-precision scales, making it a convenient piece that can be used not only for stereo microscopes but also for epi-illumination microscopes. It can also be used for calibration.
