About This Product

■Summary

BioPassFIDO is a next-generation authentication device that realizes two-factor authentication: "biometric authentication" + "possession authentication." You can safely access various FIDO2 compatible services such as Windows logon (Microsoft Entra ID environment) and Microsoft account without using ID or password.

■What is the next generation authentication “FIDO”?

Nowadays, as online services have become widespread worldwide, web authentication using only user IDs and passwords is no longer sufficient to deal with risks such as information leaks and cyberattacks that can cause serious damage. In 2012, a standards development organization called the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online Alliance) Alliance was established to realize easier and stronger authentication. The FIDO Alliance includes leading companies in the IT industry such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and LINE, and as of 2019, the number of member companies has reached 250 in just seven years, and the number continues to grow. FIDO is a new authentication technology that this organization is developing to replace passwords, using TPM (Trusted Platform Module), NFC (Near Field Communication), biometric authentication technology, etc. FIDO separates identity verification and server authentication on the terminal, and since passwords are not sent to the server, there is no risk of personal information being leaked. Personal authentication information is stored on the device, not on the server. When you perform PIN code authentication or fingerprint authentication on a device such as a smartphone, the server issues something like an identity certificate called PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and if the PKI matches the device registered on the server in advance, the device is authenticated.
