■Summary

・In general, soluble iron salts such as ferrous sulfate are characterized by a large amount of elution, but there is a risk of gastrointestinal disorders due to the large amount of elution in the stomach. In addition, because soluble iron salts have high solubility, they give off an iron taste when ingested, and are not necessarily palatable. Therefore, iron agents that are difficult to dissolve, such as iron pyrophosphate, are used instead of soluble iron salts. - Iron pyrophosphate is difficult to dissolve at the pH of the stomach, but elutes at the pH of the duodenum, where iron is actually absorbed, so it exhibits ideal dissolution behavior as an iron preparation. ・Felsorb® is a ferric pyrophosphate that uses a unique manufacturing method to further reduce its elution rate in gastric simulant fluid (pH 1.2) and improve its elution rate in duodenum simulant fluid (pH 3.0). ・Compared to conventional iron pyrophosphate, FELSORB® has the potential to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal disorders, and is a product that exhibits ideal dissolution behavior. Felsorb® also has higher dispersion stability in liquids than conventional iron pyrophosphate, and can be applied to liquid products.
