About This Product

■Product overview

Tourniquet cuffs (bleeding cuffs), which are mainly used during orthopedic and plastic surgery operations, do not need to be wrapped over the surgical field, so the cuff itself has not been sterilized, other than simply wiping the surgical field with alcohol. However, over the past 10 years, there has been an increasing awareness of ensuring a clean field in sports orthopedic joint treatment and surgery (e.g. surgeries with narrow surgical fields such as elbow, upper arm, and pediatric surgeries), and the cuffs have been sterilized with E.O.G. (Ethylene Oxide Gas). On the other hand, EOG gas sterilization releases gas containing carcinogenic substances and requires sterilization time of 15 hours or more, including aeration, so medical facilities are reducing the number of items that are sterilized with EOG gas. Autoclave (high-pressure steam) sterilization is an excellent sterilization method that does not emit toxic gases and takes about 30 minutes, making it suitable for emergency surgeries. Currently, an increasing number of facilities are adopting tourniquet cuffs that can be sterilized by autoclaving.
