About This Product

■Summary

The HF81 is an innovative two-terminal IC that automatically discharges the X capacitor while eliminating power losses and ensuring the power supply complies with safety standards. The HF81 acts as a smart high voltage switch when placed in series with a discharge resistor (or bleeder resistor). When AC voltage is present, the HF81 blocks the current flowing through the safety discharge resistors, reducing power losses in these components to zero at 230VAC. When disconnected from the AC voltage, the HF81 automatically and safely discharges the X capacitor by closing the circuit through the bleeder resistor and transferring energy away from the exposed AC plug.

■Features and benefits

・When AC voltage is applied, disconnect the series discharge resistor from L-N ・If the AC voltage plug is removed, connect a series discharge resistor to L-N to discharge the X capacitor ・No need for external bias as it is supplied directly from AC voltage ・Complies with safety standards when used before and after the input fuse ・High common mode surge immunity due to no external ground pin ・High differential surge resistance with 1,000V internal JFET ・Creepage distance less than 4mm on package and PCB
