About This Product

■Summary

The HF500-40 is a fixed frequency, current mode regulator with integrated slope compensation. The HF500-40 combines a 700V MOSFET and a full-featured controller on one chip to create a low-power, offline, flyback, switch-mode power supply. At medium and heavy loads, the regulator operates at a fixed frequency with frequency jittering. Jittering helps reduce EMI energy at the switching frequency and its harmonics. Under light load conditions, the regulator stops moving peak currents and reduces the switching frequency to 25kHz for superior efficiency. For very light loads, the controller enters burst mode to achieve low standby power consumption. Extensive protection features include power recovery and power outage, VCC undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overload protection (OLP), short circuit protection (SCP), input overvoltage protection (OVP), VCC overvoltage protection (OVP), and overtemperature protection (OTP). The HF500-40 features overpower line compensation that ensures the overload protection point is independent of the input voltage. HF500-40 is offered in PDIP8-7B package.
