About This Product

■Summary

The MCS1805 is an automotive grade linear Hall effect current sensor IC for AC or DC current sensing. Differential Hall array cancels out any stray magnetic fields. The low resistance of the primary conductor allows large currents to flow in close proximity to integrated circuits containing precision Hall sensors. This current generates a magnetic field that is sensed at two different points by an integrated Hall effect transducer. The difference in magnetic field between these two points is then converted into a voltage proportional to the applied current. Spinning current technology is used to keep the offset low and stable. Galvanic isolation between the primary conduction path pins and the sensor leads allows the MCS1805 to be used in place of optoisolators or other isolation devices. The MCS1805 integrates fast overcurrent detection (OCD) to easily monitor system overcurrent (OC) events. The MCS1805 requires a minimal number of external components. The device's small footprint saves board space and is ideal for space-constrained applications. This is provided in the SOIC-8 package.
